Bake with Yen at Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya

For bakers and people who like to eat nuts such as almond and cashew nuts, one place you can’t miss is Bake with Yen (KL) Sdn Bhd, which is located at Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya. We have been frequenting this shop more than a year ago. We located it after hearing from online forum that there is such a shop that sell cheap nuts given that hubby is an enthusiastic eater of nuts (for protein). While some comments over the internet say that the products are expired, we find that all the items we bought so far, came with few more months to expiry (which we often finished before they expire). Besides the variety of baking stuff (which include utensils and baking books) and nuts, goods sold are at cheap. For instance, compared to places like Pudu market, the price of 1kg of almond is so much cheaper (about 50-60% cheaper). In fact, there was once I bumped into the Savemart (SS2)’s boss taking stocks for his grocery shop from Bake with Yen.

One setback could be you are required to pay in cash, even though buying in bulk because they do not accept credit card. In addition, the place is less spacious and packed especially on weekends. Also, the staff can be less friendly (i.e. showing their moody faces most of the time). But for the cheap prices, you can’t ask for more.

  1. I find the workers at the taman megah branch rude, condescending and arrogant. Which leads to believe that the old hags at the counter are all menopausal and depressed as my daughter says. Please understand that we are paying customers looking for items that sometimes we need a little advice on. Maybe they are not being paid well so why should they be nice! Just came back from overseas…..their baking supply shops are not only well equipped their personnel are on hand to give you advice on baking! Memang Malaysians tak boleh in the pleasantries

  2. Same goes to Chow Kit branch. Perhaps even worse. The staff expect you to fill the shopping basket immediately. They will urge customers to pay and leave the shop immediately. Don’t ever asks for assistance.
